Wellness Specialist and intentional Breathing Facilitator
Mary Lisa (ML) Wahlfeldt
Let me start by explaining that I was raised by a Sicilian mother. Sicilians are not calm or worry-free, ever. I spent 25+ years in the corporate world. Add in marriage, kids, aging parents, and supporting friends facing their own challenges, and life felt overwhelming. As my head hit the pillow at night, my mind raced with worry, to-do lists, and overall negative thoughts. I strived to quiet the noise in my head and get some rest.
Ten years ago, I started practicing meditation and breathwork. The more I practiced; things started to change. My sleep improved. My worries diminished. I was visibly more relaxed. My health flourished.
I became a certified breathing instructor, studying under Dr. Belisa Vranich in NYC. The majority of us aren’t breathing properly, and in fact, adopt dysfunctional breathing patterns after the age of 6 years. old. The good news is that we can learn to breathe properly again, the way we were born breathing. Our bodies need and want us to breathe this way. It has multiple health benefits for your body and mind. The positive changes in my own life have made me a passionate teacher of these foundational tools.
We have the ability to control how our body and mind will respond to life’s challenges. That’s powerful. It’s truly life-changing.
I teach/speak to corporate clients (NYFD, Google, AbbVie, Wellness House,
Brookdale Senior Living, Beyond Hunger), consultants, attorneys, school districts, students, athletes, and more.
“If you’re looking for a personal or professional development program that falls outside the traditional scope of an educational program, I encourage you to speak with ML. Her interactive breathing program is enlightening and engaging. Attendees walk away from her program knowing the impact of proper breathing and how it can help reduce stress and allow one to perform at his/her best under pressure. The science behind proper breathing really caught my attention and her in-session exercises were great.”
