If there is a single word that describes Mark Altman, founder of The Altman Leadership Center, its “passion”. Mark does everything with more than mere enthusiasm.
A soft-spoken Texan, a veteran, a family man, a scholar and a gifted speaker, Mark Altman’s entire life has been an education in the disciplines of leadership. From a young age through scouting, Mark was exposed to leadership training, responsibility, teamwork, and high adventure. He became an Eagle Scout in 1983.
The United States Army soon recognized Mark Altman’s leadership skills. He attended Airborne and Air Assault schools. Rising to the rank of Major, Mark became an ROTC instructor, and later a Battlefield Simulations Coach. Mark recently returned from Iraq where he commanded a transportation unit.
Mark Altman is a serious student of leadership concepts and principles. He holds a Master’s degree in Leadership Studies, and will soon earn his Ph.D at Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington.
Mark has authored a number of articles on teaching values and leadership to children through high outdoor adventures. In 2001 Mark made a leap of faith in using the outdoors as a parenting tool when he and his oldest son rode mountain bikes from Rome, Italy to Edinburgh, Scotland. Mark tested his theories again in 2005, when he took his wife and four children, on a two thousand mile trip from the Oregon coast to the nation’s capitol riding specialized tricycles. The trek received international media attention.
He is the author of two books, a leadership video, and a weekly newspaper column that reaches a million people a week. He has been interviewed on TV, radio, Internet radio and in print in nine countries.
As a leadership consultant and trainer, Mark Altman goes beyond merely encouraging his audience to find ways to improve. He shows them the way.
He is much more than a dynamic motivational speaker and a team-building coach. He is a teacher.
Mark Altman educates his audience on how to dream without limits, and how to reach beyond their wants, fears and expectations. He is engaging. He is entertaining, and his passion and energy is contagious, but his message doesn’t fade when the session has ended. Mark has the unique ability to challenge the hearts and the minds of his audiences, and to leave them with enduring lessons in leadership, and the skills and the will to implement them.
